At BGG.con I had waited all weekend to get into a game of Kingsburg, and at about 11pm one day I was finally about to play it. On my way to the table I ran into Zev and Simon Hunt who were about to try a prototype submission Zev brought with him called Ganji. I recognized the box from the BGDF chats, and I said "Oh cool, Genji!" Zev looked at me kinda funny, wondering how I possibly knew anything about it :)
They offered me a seat in the game, and in retrospect I really wish I'd taken it... but I went ahead with Kingsburg instead. Later I walked by and noticed Zev and Simon were having a good time with the game, however Simon was having an issue with the fact that his had was full of cards he couldn't use, and he saw no way to do anything about it. That didn't sound right to me, so I asked to see the rules, and quickly found that Simon had forgotten about the 2nd of 2 things you can do on your turn, which basically fixed his situation :)
I can't wait to play Genji, not necessarily because I'm so sure it'll be great (though I've only heard good things) - but because I enjoy seeig and playing games by my friends at BGDF. Gheos was the first game like that, now Genji! Maybe soon there will be a certain Three Musketeers themed game on the market... ;)
